This is a tiny USB battery charger.With this tiny thing you can charge almost all devices that are charged via USB, like iPods or mobile phones, with only two AA-Cells.most important compenent of the cicuit presented in the next steps is the “LT1301″. This project can use as an art project/passive information display.The LEDs controlled by PIC16F628 and communicate to PC using RS232 serial control.The current firmware has 8 commands. See the source code for the firmware for how the commands are implemented.[more]

The folks at perceptive development have developed a custom interface that connects through the headphone jack. They had already developed the serial modem, so this was just another step at connecting peripherals. With some smart and small packaging, this could be a nice attachment to keep around.[more]
