Plate batteries for old tube radios are today only available with difficulty. However, step-up controllers for low DC voltages are everywhere. The circuits of these IC’s are, however, affected by disadvantages and complex wound inductances are needed. A further disadvantage of this solution is the transducer frequency; poor placing can cause audible interference.[more]

This mini-sumo is controlled by a PIC 16F877 micro-controller. The motors are Micromo 1717 gearmotors, and they are powered through a Texas Instruments SN754410NE one amp dual h-bridge. A single NiMh 9 volt battery provides the power for both the electronics and the motors. The tires & wheels are standard R/C racing tires & wheels for street touring cars. The IR range-finders are Sharp GP2D12 analog sensors.[more]

Creating PCB’s at home has always been a hassle. The basic methods available include manually laying out the traces with trace transfers , photoreproduction , or the use of a laser printer using the toner transfer method. The procedure is simple. You need some Jet Print brand Photo paper, glossy. The next step is to produce a positive image of the traces you want, using almost any editor, CAD program, etc. The image must print to the exact scale needed. [more]
