Build your own printer cable LCD Display

Build your own printer cable LCD Display
Wolfy writes:Connecting a LCD display to the end of a printer-cable is a simple and effective way of providing additional functionality to your computer system. The printer-cable LCD can be mounted on your computer case or fitted inside a Jiffy-Box and displayed somewhere away from your case. I was very surprised at how quick, easy and cheap this little mod was to make. Even the fully functional software interface is simple to install and configure.[more]

The Ultimate Alarm Clock

The Ultimate Alarm Clock
Joel Avrunin writes:The high-tech student of today has many tools at his disposal for keeping track of his hectic schedule. From computer date books to Palm Pilots, every event can be tracked. But however well organized he is, nothing will help him if he is oversleeps. The alarm on a personal organizer is too quiet, and most alarm clocks offer limited functionality. 30 W Digital Wattmeter for RF (0-500MHz)

30 W Digital Wattmeter for RF (0-500MHz)
Author writes:This watt meter project is very similar to my last wattmeter project. The main reason I made a new project is becasue I needed a unit which could handle higher power than 1W. I found a 50 ohm dummy load which could take 50W of power. Of course I could use attenuates for my 1W meter, but I prefered to build a new unit. The new thing with this project is that it will only display the power in Watt on the LCD display. This means that I will not need so many EEPROM to store display data (more about this later).First we need to update our knowledge how to measure RF power: Some figures and text comes from my last wattmeter project, but it can be good to read it to remember.
