Resistor closest calculator(v1.0)

This is a tool which to be used to combine of two resistors in series or parallel to gives a match better than the closest standard value, for the E12(10%) and E24(2%,5%,10%) series

E24 series    E12 series

Desired value: Ohm

Note :

S = Series connection ==> Rs = R1 + R2
P = Parallel connection ==> Rp = (R1*R2)/(R1+R2)

If the tolerance of two resistors are different after connect the resistors in series or parallel you can calculate new total tolerance by

Series connection :

Total tolerance(Tt) = (T1*R1 + T2*R2) / (R1 + R2)

Parallel connection :

Total tolerance(Tt) = ((T1/R1) + (T2/R2)) / (1/R1 + 1/R2)

When :
T1 = R1 tolerance
T2 = R2 tolerance

For example : if you want resistance 11.8K after use this tool and you select the first of best choice of result you will get R1 10K series R2 1.8K and you use the tolerance of R1 and R2 are 5% and 10% ,respectively. so the total tolerance is :

Tt = (5x10K) + (10x1.8K) / (1.8K + 10K) = 5.76%
